Mission 4 - Siphoning of Stars
Mission Info
| Status | Current Mission | |
| Description | With antimatter reserves dwindling, the Concord opens negotiates with a Delta Quadrant civilization (The Khelvari Continuum) that have mastered a technique called 'stellar siphoning,' which draws energy directly from stars (suns). The technology works and is reasonably compatible with Concord, but doing so slowly kills the star systems it feeds upon. The Khelvari have mastered the technique and are willing to share it with Concord in exchange for Delta Quadrant intel, but they view their siphoning as a natural resource use, and have been doing it for years to keep their starships operational. Learning the technology and technique would greatly help the USS Concord, but when the Science Department discover the impact the siphoning truly has, and the startling discovery that the system they are actively pulling from is not uninhabited like the Khelvari lead them to believe. It becomes a question of Federation morals and potential genocide. |
